Superfoods: advantages of a superfood rich diet

The term superfoods (super foodstuff) was first defined in 1915 by the Oxford English Dictionary as a “nutrient-rich food considered to be especially beneficial for health and well-being”.   Why are they the latest craze? Do you know about green/organic superfoods? Have your queries answered in this post.

They stand out because they are rich in many essential nutrients that are good for the proper functioning of the body: vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, amino acids, fibre, essential fatty acids, etc. In the processing large amounts of these components are lost, so the ideal in order to benefit of all them is to consume them raw and preferably always of an organic nature.

spirulina

Algae are foods that are very rich in minerals such as calcium, iron, phosphorus and magnesium. In addition, they contain large amounts of amino acids, being a good option for athletes. Its content of photosynthetic chlorophyll helps to purify and detoxify the body of undesirable compounds.

Spirulina, although it is a source of B12, one must not forget that it is analogous to vitamin B12 which the body needs, so that in the case of being a vegetarian/vegan, the consumption of spirulina does not ensure the necessary levels of B12 and one will always have to resort to supplements.
